WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver of a pickup truck that allegedly pursued two teenage girls through Wallace Park Friday evening.

The incident happened around 7:26 p.m. on South 21st Street. Police say the girls, ages 12 and 13, ran as a silver pickup truck left the roadway, drove down a slight hill into the park and pursued them across the grass. The truck allegedly came close to hitting them.

A witness stopped his vehicle after seeing the truck enter the park, prompting the driver to leave.

Police say two males were inside the truck, believed to be between 16 and their early 20s. The driver is described as a white male with blond or light brown hair, wearing jeans and a light-colored shirt. The passenger is described as a Black male wearing jean shorts and a gray shirt.

The truck may have a sticker in the upper-left corner of the rear window and another on the tailgate below the handle.

Anyone with information about the truck or its driver is asked to contact the Wilmington Police Department or submit a tip through the department’s Tip 411 app.
